·         Timascus, often described as “Damascus titanium,” combines layers or alloys of titanium to create visible patterns after the material is worked. The colors of treated titanium come from phenomena related to surface oxidation and light interference, not from paint.

·         Damascus steel refers to a long metallurgical history. The term can describe ancient Wootz steel, famous for its “watered” patterns, but also modern Damascus steels obtained by welding layers of different steels and then revealing the pattern through finishing and etching.

·         Superconductor, in the world of collector materials, generally refers to a cut of technical material where niobium-titanium filaments are embedded in a copper matrix. CERN describes NbTi cables composed of thousands of very fine filaments incorporated into high-purity copper.

·         Forged carbon uses short carbon fibers, randomly distributed in a resin and then pressure molded. This random orientation explains its marbled and non-woven appearance.

·         Crystallized titanium is based on the idea that heat treatment and the microstructure of titanium can create natural visual patterns. Titanium alloys exhibit different phases and crystalline structures influenced by heat treatments.
